ENGINEERING. DATA. THE REAL WORLD.

Technology ORICION
Research and prototypes

Connecting software, engineering systems and AI so machines and people can work together.

Focus areas

Three research areas: site operations, skill learning and equipment control. The capabilities and workflows below describe the intended scope, refined during engineering.

DIGITAL DESIGN → SITE OPERATIONS

Construction machine automation

The first focus is helping bulldozer operators with grading. Comparing machine and blade positions with the digital design is intended to help maintain elevation and slope, identify deviations and reduce repeat passes.

  • Blade elevation and slope against the design
  • Operator guidance and supervised operating modes
  • Pass history, operating hours and deviations
Example workflow

An engineer defines the site profile. The operator sees where to cut or fill, while pass data returns to the project log. Control of individual movements is introduced after testing.

HUMAN DEMONSTRATION → MACHINE SKILL

Teaching robots practical tasks

A software environment for learning from expert demonstrations, linking camera observations, sensor readings and commands into training examples. Intended skills can be evaluated in simulation before tests on real equipment.

  • Recording and annotating expert actions
  • Virtual scenarios with varied conditions
  • Comparing skill versions for accuracy and repeatability
Example workflow

An expert demonstrates picking and moving a part. A model learns from the recordings; an engineer checks variations in position and lighting before a supervised equipment trial.

SENSORS → EQUIPMENT COMMANDS

Onboard control module

An electronic unit concept connecting sensors, computing and actuators on a specific machine. Local signal processing and diagnostics are intended to simplify integration and fault analysis.

  • Connecting sensors and machine interfaces
  • Command limits and manual control priority
  • Power and communication checks with event logging
Example workflow

The module reads an actuator position, checks the signal and forwards a permitted command. A predefined mode handles communication loss or operator intervention, with events logged for diagnosis.

One technology ecosystem

The task and digital design define the goal. A trained model proposes an action, the onboard module connects it to the equipment, and results return to the applications for analysis and oversight.

FROM IDEA TO RESULTS

1

Task and data

Select one operation and define the machine, input data and success criteria.

2

Model and simulation

Check the logic against recordings and virtual scenarios, including errors and deviations.

3

Test rig and hardware

Check sensors, commands, manual intervention and behavior during communication loss.

4

Supervised field trial

Trial a limited operating mode under expert supervision and evaluate the recorded results.
